Breaking Free

This Dunham Fund grant provides support to Breaking Free which continues to experience operating challenges due to inadequate reimbursement from the State of Illinois, reimbursement delays or denials as a result of the transition from a state-managed Medicaid system to a Medicaid Managed Care system controlled by private insurers, and funding cuts from discretionary funders.

Currently, the agency continues to maintain as many employees in direct care positions as possible to deliver essential community-based substance abuse and co-occurring treatment services, substance abuse prevention services, and parenting and child abuse prevention services throughout the greater Aurora community.

Wayside Cross Ministries

This grant was approved through the Dunham Foundation’s Ready for the Future RFP Grant and supports Wayside Cross Ministries’ Urban Youth Ministries (UYM) Program. The UYM program provides tutoring and mentoring support to Aurora-area students during the school year and summer programming. UYM will also engage other partners through this funding to broaden tutoring and programming offers for their students.

During the exhibit’s time in Aurora, there will be various film screenings, community conversations, and educational sessions that explore the exhibit and documentary’s themes and their relevance to our community today.
