Dunham Fund Announces Name Change to Dunham Foundation in 2021

We are excited to announce that as of January 1, 2021, the Dunham Fund has changed its name to the Dunham Foundation. The Dunham Foundation will continue to honor John C. Dunham’s legacy and vision of “making the world a more comfortable, safer place for mankind to live and prosper.” We will continue to do so by supporting programs and projects that effect positive change in the Dunham Foundation Service Area.

Why The Change?

The change from a charitable trust to a private foundation allows us to refine internal operations and improve the way we serve our nonprofit partners.

HOW DOES THIS CHANGE IMPACT OUR NONPROFIT PARTNERS?

It doesn’t. We will continue to provide grants to nonprofits whose mission aligns with the Foundation’s mission in the prescribed service area.

HOW DOES THIS CHANGE IMPACT OUR GRANTMAKING PARTNERS?

It doesn’t. We will continue to collaborate with our grantmaking partners to address the many needs in our community.

DOES THIS CHANGE ALLOW THE DUNHAM FOUNDATION TO RAISE MONEY?

No. We have been—and will remain—a grantmaking entity, solely providing funds to support those nonprofit partners that serve our neighbors in need. The Dunham Foundation Board of Directors and staff remain committed to investing in programs and projects that impact our community, and we thank you all for your steadfast partnership!

Next Grant Deadline is Feb 1

In 2021, the Dunham Foundation grant process will return to its initial grantmaking process. While we are not solely focused on responding to COVID-19 requests, we know our community still feels the effects of the pandemic. Therefore, the request limit for Abbreviated Applications has increased to provide nonprofits the resources they need to meet more immediate community needs.

HERE ARE SOME IMPORTANT UPDATES TO OUR APPLICATION PROCESS:

  • If your request exceeds $75,000, a Letter of Intent (LOI) is required before submitting a full proposal.
  • For all requests for $75,000 or less, an online application is required. The limit for these grants has increased, and we accept requests on a rolling basis.

*Please note that paper and electronic letters sent directly to the Dunham Foundation will no longer be accepted.

The Dunham Foundation grant application process is designed to provide improved and easy-to-use online access for all nonprofit organizations. We strive to honor John C. Dunham’s vision for building a healthy, thriving community through our grantmaking.
